A character in the movie version of Asimov's "Bicentennial Man" also bears this name. Pygmalion fell in love with the statue, causing the goddess Aphrodite (Venus) to take pity on him and bring Galatea to life. 220.237.30.150 09:16, 23 February 2006 (UTC) Galatea was a statue created by the legendary Greek sculptor, Pygmalion. Can anyone shed light on the origin of the name of Galatia? 214.3.118.1 19:58, 28 December 2005 (UTC)Scott Patten Galatea (mythology) - probably the one from Ovid, as it fits better - being a 'thing' that comes to life. There are a few other BGC related shows, the article details them. Does anyone know if BGC was connected to any other series? -The preceding unsigned comment was added by 71.33.51.90 ( talk
